A couple of days ago I travelled with my master and his wife to the region where he was raised. He had an itch to show us the landscape that inspired him to create the illustration in which I'm laying on a lush meadow, overlooking a wide river valley. Although nearly thirty years had passed since he had been there for the last time almost nothing had changed. The tree standing not far behind me in the illustration - a beautiful pear tree in reality - was still overlooking the edge of the slope. I found even the river valley looked quite like he remembered and painted it. However, the real river is not as wide as he depicted it. Here you can see how the place looks like in reality. He took some pictures with this magic little box of his, which he calls 'camera'. Later that day we collected some interesting looking lichen which we'll use for colour making. I remember a recipe from 'my' 15th century. However, it's not so terribly convincing. Did you ever experiment with lichen? Do you have any recipes how to make colour or dye with them? Let me know if you have. I'd be happy to exchange ideas and experiences.

I BID YOU WELCOME GOOD SIRS My name is Alisande
and I appreciate you've dropped by. I'm a limner and scrivener - or as you would put it in your 21st century - an illuminator and scribe. I was born in the year of the Lord 1394. Shortly after my 16th birthday, I suddenly found myself - heaven knows through which mysterious occurrences - in the 21st century. Since then I have been living with a couple who very lovingly and affectionately took me in. Since they are both painters and book illustrators, I can even help them with their work. Information about their art you can find on their websites: In the course of time me and my feline chaperone Harry became rather well known and started to receive a lot of messages from near and far.
It became clear: We needed our own space where we can correspond with all our devoted followers and friends. So Norman - one of my two artist friends - set up this 'Chronicle' for us. Here you can have a chat with me and my rascally mouser. Archives
